Gamers Guide Monthly issue 1

Post by JoeyGGM27 on Tue Oct 07 2008, 06:59

here is a sneak preview of ggm issue 1!

RUNE FACTORY 2
NATSUME'S DS RPG FANTASY SIM HITS SHELVES THIS FALL WITH ITS ANTICIPATED SEQUEL!

Natsume's hit Harvest Moon variation called Rune Factory has its well-deserved sequel arriving here in North America this fall after a very successful release in Japan. The game follows several years after the previous Rune Factory installment.
The game follows the story of Kyle, who has reached the age for which he can travel on his own.
For those who don't know what Rune Factory is, here's the scoop: Rune Factory is a series in which you are a farmer who grows crops for money. You can marry, and have a baby. This is what Harvest Moon is composed of. (Another Simulation game by Natsume.) What makes this game a hit, is the fact that you can battle monsters inside dungeons.
Instead of livestock, you can instead care for monsters (kind of like Monster Rancher.) There is a much better storyline too. A pretty quick summary really.
Additions to the Controls include tiny touchable tabs for quick sub-menu access to equipment, items, spells etc. You can now move your character with the stylus or d-pad too. Besides controls, I should give more IMPORTANT info.
The storyline hasn't gone very in-depth in North American previews, but a large part that has been revealed is that the game is split into two parts. The First Part covers the story of Kyle (The main character who has the blue bandana and red hair.), and then part two continues with control of your child. Whether you have a boy or girl is what is decided in part one.
With part one, you can marry one of seven girl candidates:

Mana: In Alvanna Village, Mana is the first character you meet. She plays a role similar to the girl you first meet in the original Rune Factory named Mist (who'll make another appearance in the upcoming Wii game, "Rune Factory Frontier".) She works with her father Douglas at "Pumpkin", the village seed store, and is an energetic young girl.

Alicia: Alicia is the fortune-teller of Alvanna Village, and can predict the weather, where someone is, and how close you are with someone.

Julia: "Wisdom", the Alvanna bathhouse is where she works. She is a considerate and eccentric girl.

Yue: A peddler. In the second half, you can buy supplies for something you will have built.

Rosalind de Sainte-Coquille: She has manners, but is spoiled. Acts like a girl from the original Rune Factory named Bianca de Sainte-Coquille. She thinks she is a prodigy, and just may be right.

Dorothy: Dorothy is a somewhat strange girl... She wears an olive green hooded cloak that covers her forehead, and white hair that covers her eyes. She carries some beat up doll with her all the time. She is very shy, and doesn't talk much. Plays a role SLIGHTLY similar to a girl from Rune Factory #1 named Tori.

Cecilia: In the previous installment, Cecilia was a little girl who was adopted by the Kardia (Original Rune Factory Town) librarian named Russell after being found on a battlefield. She hung out with a little boy named Nicholas (Who hoped he married Cecilia when they grew up. Ironic!) when she was little. Ceci (Her Nickname) is half elf, which kept her wondering. In this game, she is a maid for Santa-Coquille mansion. She plays a role similar to "Tabatha", (who was half-elf too) a maid for Bianca in the first Rune Factory. She came across Alvanna Village after wanting to study abroad away from Kardia.

Extras include a bulletin board, where mini-quests for other villagers are posted. There is also a more in-depth map on the top screen. In the previous Rune Factory, there was simply a world map that showed only the outside view of the dungeons and town. Now you can pinpoint your current location! Extras also include an offspring control part. After building a school, eventually (after marriage) you'll be able to continue as your child. Girls can now play the game without being a boy.
Based on your decision in part one, you will either have a boy or a girl. Although it's not marriage, in part two, you can select boyfriends or girlfriends. NOTE: If you marry someone other than Alicia, Mana, or Yue, then Yue will take on the parent role of part two. This is done to allow all choices for boyfriends and girlfriends. For boys, you can chose between Cammy and Lamria as a girlfriend:

Cammy: She is Dorothy's younger sister, but acts completely opposite to Dorothy. She is very lively, and most of her mini-quests consist of playing games with her, such as Rock Paper Scissors, and Shadow Boxing.

Leann De Sainte-Coquille: She is the daughter of Julia and Max (Rosalind's older brother.). She knows tales from Kardia, which will sometimes mention Mist, who is from the first Rune Factory. She has developed a good sense of food due to her influence from her Grandfather.

For girls, you can choose between Roy, Orphas, or Rean as a boyfriend.

Roy: He's a good friend with Cammy, and hates to study.

Leonel: The son of Dorothy and Barret (Barret is a mysterious guy, who becomes a teacher in part two.). He likes hotcakes, is afraid of fishes, and is mistaken for a girl occasionally due to his choice of attire.

Orland: The son of Jake (An elf) and Cecilia, he dislikes humans, just like his father.

SPECIAL!
Sera and Serena: Twin sisters, they can be a boyfriends or girlfriends. (WHAT!!!???)

Anyway, there were three mini-drama manga's released for advertisement of the game. Google it if you want okay? Go to IGN .com for new Rune Factory 2 videos and images. Be sure to read the REVIEW in an upcoming issue! Hoped you liked this preview! –Joey

You Joey, remember that cher has nothing to do with natsume in any way. So do not mix her up with a natsume enployee.

Issue 1 re-made for the better!

Post by JoeyGGM27 on Mon Feb 23 2009, 21:20

Okay, so, I decided that I will redo Gamers Guide Monthly from the ground
up (well not as in how it looks, but more that it'll just be a second- no,
scratch that, THIRD chance to make this good!) and that I'll work my
flippin' butt off to do this without tons of postponage (wow, I was like
natsume times ten before) and will have it up soon! (At least, I hope...)
So, I'll maybe have the cover up soon on the gallery! I need a lot of
support here, so I ask all members to motivate me in this topic, give ideas
and compliments, and to help me make this better than before!! Thanks!
Bye.

Okay! The cover is half done! I just need a good Rune
Factory Frontier photo! Can someone maybe get it for me?
If so, then thanks! I can't get the cover onto the gallery though. Bye!

P.S.: To all who think I'm obsessed with Rune Factory, Rune
Factory Frontier is not the biggest preview! HALO 3 ODST is!
